Happy National Brazilian Blowout Day!

Updated: Feb 7, 2022

More than just straight hair

The Brazilian Blowout (BBO) is a semi permanent smoothing system treatment. Not to be confused with a straightening system. (If you’ve ever seen those old hair commercials where it shows the hair’s rigid cuticle.) The Brazilian Blowout coats and seals the hair cuticle with keratin, the protein that your hair is made of. The result? Frizz-free, silky, smooth, and shiny hair! It also helps reduce your styling time.

The BBO treatment is also very customizable. Your BBO stylist should work with you create your #hairgoals during your initial consultation. I always recommend visiting a certified Brazilian Blowout stylist with experience.

This treatment is good for ALL hair types. (Yes, including curly hair!) If you have frizzy, damaged or processed hair, this treatment is perfect for you.

Commonly Asked Questions

How long does it last?

The BBO can last 2-3 months. The treatment can last longer when using the Brazilian Blowdry Shampoo and Conditioner Kit and Bonding Spray. My clients report reduced frizz throughout the lifespan of the BBO when combining their treatment with these products.

I have curly hair, will it make my hair straight?

No, it will not make your hair straight. It may temporarily stretch out your curl but it is not a straightening system. The BBO is customizable. It can defy curls or give sleeker results. This is why I recommend visiting a certified Brazilian Blowout hair stylist, preferably one with experience. During your consultation, your stylist should review these customizations with you.

Do I have to wait a few days to wash my hair?

No, there is no need to wait. The molecules of the treatment are smaller than most smoothing treatments and they penetrate the cuticle of the hair quicker. You can wash and style the same day!

Can I get color done the same day or do I have to wait?

Yes, it can be done in the same visit. It is recommended to get the color done first. The Brazilian Blowout will help seal and protect the color.

How long does the appointment take?

Depending on the length and thickness of your hair, it can take 1.5 to 3 hours. My average time is 1.5 hours.

How is it done?

We first walk over to the shampoo bowl to clarify the hair. After your hair is squeaky clean I apply the Brazilian Blowout solution. The hair is then blow dried and the solution is infused into the hair by straightening every section. After your hair is straightened, the sad part: we rinse. The treatment is fully rinsed and no residue is left behind. The bright side to rinsing is that you leave with nothing weighing down your hair! The last step is applying a bonding spray before I style it for you. You’ll notice reduced style time right away!

How much does it cost?

My starting rate is $190. Cost can increase depending on the amount of product and time required.

Is it the same as a keratin treatment?

Keratin treatments and Brazilian Blowouts are very similar. They share a common goal: smooth out while supplying silky and shiny hair.

The difference between the two is the way they derive their protein and the treatment process. The keratin treatment is left on the hair and you cannot wash or crimp the hair for 2-4 days after.
