I know, I know! Am I really writing a blog about how to wash your hair?! Yes, believe it or not, a lot of people don't know. I was guilty of this even after beauty school.
So here are some tips and tricks to help you. This also helps you avoid wasting your shampoo, avoiding getting dandruff, dry hair, and excess oil.
Of course, I'm going to start by saying use good quality products. If it's from Target, Ross, Marshals, or any drug store... DO NOT USE! Trust me. I'm going to save the reasons for another time.
Avoid washing your hair every day.
Start by completely wetting your hair. Your hair needs to be completely wet to get a deep clean.
You only need a quarter-size of shampoo. If you have thick or coarse hair you may need a little bit more. Shampoo only on the scalp. I'm going to say that again. Shampoo only on the scalp. Using shampoo at the ends of your hair will result in dryness. The suds that rinse down is enough to clean the rest of your hair. You may need to do two shampoos, especially if the first is not lathering. So rinse it and apply round two. Spend some time in the shampoo stage. Massage the scalp. This will stimulate the hair follicle removing dead skin cells. A good scalp massage also helps hair growth. Thoroughly rinse all the shampoo from the scalp before reaching for the conditioner.
Before applying the conditioner, ring out your hair of excess water. Apply the conditioner on the ends, avoiding the roots. The roots already produce natural oils so no need to condition them. Leaving the conditioner a few minutes helps the conditioner do its thang!
I hope these little tips help the health of your hair. Try this for the next couple of weeks and let me know how your hair feels!
